Mohali
Mohali, officially known as Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, is a planned city in the Mohali district of Punjab, India, an administrative and commercial center southwest of Chandigarh. It is the headquarters of Mohali district and one of the six municipal corporations in the state. It is officially named after Sahibzada Ajit Singh, the eldest son of Guru Gobind Singh.
Mohali has rapidly developed as the IT hub of the state of Punjab and has therefore become increasingly important. The Punjab Government has initiated major infrastructure and recreational projects in an effort to raise the standard of living in Mohali. Roads have been constructed to create networks between Mohali and Chandigarh International Airport to increase international connectivity.
Mohali, which was previously part of Rupnagar district, was divided and became part of a separate district in 2006. Prehistoric evidence has been found in Mohali and the surrounding regions. Due to the presence of the lake, fossil remains have been found that contain traces of a wide variety of aquatic plants, animals and amphibians. Being a part of the Punjab region, it has many rivers in the areas where it is speculated that humans started ancient and primitive settlements. About 8,000 years ago, the area was also known as the home of the Harappans.
