Balangir
Balangir, also known as Bolangir, is a town and municipality, headquarters of Balangir district in the state of Odisha, India. Balangir has one of the best cultural heritages in India. It is also known as one of the most beautiful places for tourists in Odisha. Balangir Municipality is divided into twenty-one districts. It spreads over an area of 12,200 acres (4,900 ha).
The "Nuakhai" is a social celebration of unity. This festival is celebrated among friends and family during the month of Bhadraba. The correct date of Nuakhai is exactly the day after the Ganesh Puja. It is a celebration of the harvest of crops. On this occasion, the new grain is offered to the local deity for the first time after the harvest and during this festival people get lost in the celebration. Wearing new clothes and preparing delicious dishes, people of this area celebrate this festival with enthusiasm. It is mainly an agricultural festival of western Odisha. It can also be called the 'Baisakhi' of Odisha.
Sri Sri Harisankar Devasthana is a temple on the slopes of the Gandhamardhan Hills, Bolangir district of Odisha in India. It is popular for its nature scenes and its connection with two Hindu lords, Vishnu and Shiva. As a sacred site, along with a stream flowing over the granite bedrock, it has given some visitors a sense of peace. On the other side of the Gandhamardhan Hills is the Nrusinghanath Temple. Ancient Buddhist ruins have been found on the plateau between the two temples, believed to be remains of the ancient Parimalgiri University.
