Diu also known as Diu City, is a medieval fortified town in Diu district in the union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, India. Diu district is the 10th least populated district in India. The city of Diu is located on the eastern side of Diu Island and is known for its fortress and its old Portuguese cathedral. It is a fishing village.

The city is one of 100 Indian cities participating in a nationwide competition for funding under Narendra Modi's flagship Smart Cities Mission. Diu will compete for one of the last 10 spots against 20 cities across India. In April 2018, it was reported that Diu Smart City had already become the first city in India to run on 100 percent renewable energy during the day.
