Jhujhunu
The history of Jhunjhunu goes back to the Vikram Era when the city was under Chauhan dynasty of Delhi.
In 1450 AD Kayamkhani Muslim leader Mohammad Khan and his son Samas Khan established Jhunjhunu city.
Jhunjhunu city was established by Kayamkhani Muslim ruler Mohammad Khan in 1450AD. The power shifted when Shekhawat ruler Thakur Shardul Singh and Jat chieftain Jhunjhar Singh Nehra or Jhunjha agreed to unite against the Muslim rule in 1730AD. Sardar Jhunjhar Singh Nehra decapitated the Muslim ruler Rohilla Khan and was crowned as 'Sardar' or Chieftain of Jhunjhunu as promised by Shekhawat Rulers. But some other Rajput leaders conspired against him[1] and killed him when he was alone and unarmed.
Thakur Shardul Singh took over Jhunjhunu city and reigned for 12 year until his death. Jhunjhunu was later passed and distributed into 5 parts among his 5 sons called Panchpana. But Jhunjhar Singh Nehra became a symbol of martyrdom [2] and the city of Jhunjhunu was named after him.
