Mansa has a temple of Baba Bhai Gurdas Ji in the southeast of the city; A fair is held at the temple during the season from March to April.
Mansa was previously part of the Phulkian Sikh dynasty (1722-1948) and then the Kaithal Sikh kingdom (1762-1857).
The city is said to have been founded by Bhai Gurdas, a native of Dhingar, Mansa district. It is said that he married the Dhaliwal Jat Sikhs at this place. He once went to her in-laws to bring her wife, but they refused to send her. At this, Bhai Gurdas sat down to meditate in front of his in-laws' house. After some time, the girl's parents agreed to send her daughter to Bhai Gurdas. But he refused to take her with him, declaring that she had now renounced her worldly way of life. In her memory, her Smadh was built, where a fair is held every year between March and April. A large number of people attend the fair and offer Laddus and Gur (Jaggery) in Smadh. The class 'A' municipality has operated in the city since 1952.
