Nizamabad
Nizamabad was founded in the year 1905 when the Dominion of Nizam was recognized where it was known as Indur until now. The Nizam of Hyderabad ruled the Deccan region in the 18th century. Nizamabad was part of the princely state of Hyderabad in 1724 and remained part of the Nizam lords until 1948. Nizamabad - A popular princely district in Telangana, located at a distance of approximately 175 km from the northwest of Hyderabad. The district took its name as Nizamabad (Nizam-a-abadi) from the Nizam of Hyderabad Asaf Jahi, VI who had ruled Deccan in the 18th century AD. Originally the district was called INDUR which was known to have originated in the name of King Indradatta who ruled this region during the 5th century AD. During Sir Salar Jung-Is first minister ship in AD 1876, the district was reorganized into Nizams Dominion and INDUR became a district.
Until June 2, 2014, Nizamabad district was part of Andhra Pradesh state. After the division of Telangana state, Nizamabad district became one of the districts of Telangana state. The district took its name as Nizamabad (Nizam-a-abadi) from the Nizam of Hyderabad Asaf jahi, VI who had ruled Deccan in the 18th century AD. Originally the district was called Indur which was known to have originated in the name of King Indradatta who had ruled this region in 5th century AD Some of the main ancient dynasties that extended their rule to the district are Mauryas, Satavahanas, Rastrakutas, Chalukyas and Kakatiyas and in the medieval Bahamian sultans, Qutub Shahis and Barid Shahis and in the modern period Mughals and Asaf Jahis. During Sir Salar Jung-Is Prime Minister ship in AD 1876, the districts in the Nizams Dominion were reorganized, after which Indur became a District.
