Supaul is a city and municipality which is the headquarters of Supaul district in the Indian state of Bihar. Supaul is the administrative headquarters of this district. The kings of the kingdom of Videha were called Janakas. The kingdom of Videha was later incorporated into the Vajjika League, which had its capital in the city of Vaishali, also in Mithila.
